Fixed!

I just went in and fixed the settings so that ya'll can leave comments.
Bombs away!! :)

So we're bloggers now.....

Hmmm.....I think I understand how this works!! We write all about the things that have happened, that are happening, and things that are going to happen (and how we "feel" about it all!)....what a splendid idea!!!

First and foremost, I'll say that our faith in God is the common thread that brought us together and will keep us that way for the long haul. Everything else is icing, as they say. We met through church, Meridian Point in Falcon, CO, and we started talking through an activity sponsored and set up by the church (Lifegroups). I will call that the launch point for our relationship....and to be honest, that is EXACTLY how it is supposed to work! (my 2 cents :) )

Second and not nearly as important as my first point, we are absolute goofs! Even when we're having frustrating days, we tend to do or say something ridiculous in order to lighten the mood and get back to being mostly relaxed. Yeah, I think goof is the right word (and I'm sure that Alyssa's family thinks it's just her!!!....and I'll keep it that way until they read this!)

Third (and final for the day), we are in love. Anyone who has watched 12 minutes of daytime television in the last 10 years might think this line cliche, but I will take a second to clarify. We are completely honest with each other and share unbelievable minute details to ensure complete disclosure daily(e.g. "I bought some chocolate milk this morning because I haven't had any in a long time and I really wanted it!") In addition to being honest, we enjoy each others company and the power of quiet conversation. We spent the first 3 months getting to know each other via telephone and the occasional coffee stop at Starbucks (her blood is MADE of chai!!). We talked each night and periodically throughout the weekends. The amount of things we have in common is just right. Not everything and not nothing. They say opposites attract....and I say that God puts you right where you need to be .....and magnetizes you as He sees fit. Save for work and my part-time woodworking gig, we spend as much time as we can together because we want to. So, I say again, we are in love.

As Alyssa said above, we will sit down tomorrow or in the next couple days and tell about the engagement (which was an absolute blast to plan!).

Chad

Here We Go!

Thanks to some inspiration from Chad's friend Spencer and his new wife Alice (thanks if you ever read this), we are starting up a blog! My purpose in starting up this blog is to:

1. Keep a record of all the crazy things that have already happened and that are bound to happen over the next year or so.
2. Give family and friends a little insight into what is going on in our crazy brains.
3. Give me something to help fill my abundance of spare time!
4. Oh yes, and to provide a few good laughs. :)

I have never really been a huge blogger, so this should be an experience in itself! I'll have to recruit my blog-savvy sister, Mel, to help me out a little. (You know you want to Melly!) Tomorrow I'll sit down with Chad and we'll each post our version of the proposal. For now, I'll talk a little about the two of us.

Our relationship is based on a few things. Number one, is God. He created us, molded us, and brought us together to be the perfect other half for each other. (Literally, because we met at church.) We both strive daily to grow in him which allows us to grow closer together. It is such a blessing to know that the man that I am going to marry puts God before me in His life. Because of that, I know we will last forever.

Number two, is honest and open communication. There is not a SINGLE thing that we don't tell each other. I am able to share my past, my future, my hopes, my insecurities, my faults, and every other slightly scary but mostly wacky thing about myself with this man. I can share anything without fear of hurt (physical and emotional), being criticized or laughed at, or rejection. It took me a really long time to be able to trust myself and another person (especially a man) that much. But let me tell you, it is the best thing that has ever happened to me. As much of a relief as it is to share the serious side of life with Chad, I can also share the silly things. We have had conversations about cleaning toilets, the numerous grammatical errors that the entire world seems intent upon making, crazy grandmothers, aliens and Area 51, and so so so much more! The most mundane occurrence becomes fodder for our never-ending conversations throughout the day. Between the two of us, we have talked hundreds of thousands of hours so far and plan to keep it up!

Number three, is love. I have come to know so many things about this man that have made me laugh, cry, snort....But most of all, I have learned that every new thing I find out about him, makes me love him even more. I know that he is as OCD as I am and he really doesn't like the colors green, orange, pink, or purple. I know that when the Inspector Gadget Theme Song (Techno Remix) comes on, he does this CRAZY, hilarious dance that never fails to cause me to clutch my stomach and cry hysterically. I know that he prefers white bread (even though I know wheat is better ;). I know that until he gets his coffee in the morning, it REALLY is better to just let him sit and scowl. I know that he is a gangster inside, likes the bottom of his jeans to be the width of his pinkie to his thumb, will always protect himself and his family with some variety of firearm, and has a HUGE heart. This man has taught me to love, and be loved. Being loved is not easy, not for me. But Chad....Chad made it easy. He made me want to spend the rest of my life with him by my side. That's exactly what I'm going to do to. For (three) forevers, I will love this man with every ounce of love I have in my heart.

I'll end with one of my favorite Chad quotes:

"I've wanted you since before I met you and I need you more everyday. God has shown me happiness through you and it is genuine, not forced."
